"Profilo dell'Artista" is an intimate photographic series that celebrates the creative process of contemporary female painters. Through candid, atmospheric images captured in their studios, the project reveals the quiet intensity, raw emotion, and transformative moments behind each artwork—turning the act of creation into a visible dialogue between artist and canvas.
The series begins with Marta Pacini, a Rome-based painter whose work bridges abstract and figurative realms with profound sensitivity. In her sunlit studio in the heart of Rome, I documented Marta as she worked: brush in hand, surrounded by tubes of paint, sketches, and evolving canvases. Her movements are deliberate yet fluid—layers of color applied with both restraint and passion, building forms that emerge from instinct and introspection.
Marta's art is deeply personal and evocative. Drawing from the feminine experience, inner worlds, and the complexities of human emotion, her pieces often explore themes of identity, vulnerability, strength, and the subtle interplay between body and spirit. Her palette is rich yet nuanced—soft earth tones mingle with bold accents, creating compositions that feel alive, breathing, and quietly powerful. Photographing Marta was an honor and a revelation. Watching her translate inner visions into tangible form reminded me why I began this project: to honor women artists who pour their souls onto canvas, often in solitude, and to share that private alchemy with a wider audience. These images capture not just the finished works, but the humanity of the process—the hesitation before a stroke, the satisfaction of a color that finally "lands," the quiet determination that defines true creation.
